All, Welcome to the last day of studio this spring. Despite that reality, we still have a full agenda so you aren’t off the hook just yet.
The first thing we need to do is is CLEAN, and CLEAN in a very big way. All trash must go from Crown and 3410 today. Dumpsters are staged and ready. After today, you have until the end of the weekend to remove ALL material from Crown and from 3410. If it is not removed, it will be thrown out by the cleaning crews prepping for the Open House and Graduation festivities. This effort is your responsibility, but we’ll be there to motivate and supervise.
Any models requested for the end of year show/open house will need to get moved to Crown Hall lower level EAST for staging/installation next week. If your model/project hasn’t been flagged yet by your professor, please remove it so that it doesn’t get discarded.
THEN – If the weather holds, we will have our annual BBQ and pizza party on the NE side of M&M starting around 5p. Please bring all your friends!! I’ve got plenty of food to get us kicked off, but as usual, it’s a pot luck, so please bring some snacks, food and drink to share with the crew. As always, folks from all years are welcome to join. The more the merrier.
That all said, if it’s raining, we postpone until next week I hope….and I’ll make another batch of pizza dough…
See you this afternoon.
We have an ALL STUDIOS lecture today at 2:00pm in Siegel Hall Auditorium. TJ McLeish, a former IIT professor, will lecture on recent projects he has worked on for the internet and data startup company he helped to build after leaving IIT.

Happy New Year and welcome back to sunny Chicago!! We hope you had an excellent break and holiday season, and that you are ready to get back to studio.
Our first class meeting will be tomorrow in Siegel Hall Auditorium starting at 1:00pm. PLEASE NOTE – WE WILL BE STARTING EARLIER THAN USUAL AT 1:00PM, NOT OUR STANDARD MEETING TIME OF 1:50PM.
Due to first day auditorium demands and schedules, this was our available time. Please spread the word to all and please be on time.
As we did last semester, our first day meeting will introduce the eight individual studios and you will then be asked to select/rank your studios using lottery ballots that will be provided. Studio briefs will be posted to the blog prior to our first class meeting for reference. Prior to studio time on Wednesday, your studio assignments will be posted to the blog, and we will meet in our individual studio sections at that time.
Thanks and see you tomorrow in Siegel Hall Auditorium tomorrow at 1:00pm.
All, You recently received an email from the College noting that your work product needs to be uploaded to the College’s Online Archive – Protocol by semester’s end. Please refer to that email and the attached document (protocol-student-user-manual_fall-2016) for instructions for uploading. You may also contact your professor with further questions/clarifications.
Please note that this is not a request, but a requirement for successful completion of ARCH 417/ARCH 418. You will not receive a grade for the class until your work samples have been uploaded.
